3 in 1: Spice farm, cooking, Prison Island, Stone Town
Flavours, scents, giant tortoises and the old town — all of Zanzibar in one day.
Duration: Full day
Spice farm. A world of flavours and scents: cinnamon, cardamom, lemongrass, vanilla, pepper and many more. We smell and taste, drink coffee with local spices and fresh coconut water, and try seasonal fruit that is truly delicious.
Cooking in a local village. No hurry here… Pole pole! In the middle of the jungle, together with local women, we cook traditional dishes in pots over banana-leaf fires: coconut rice, banana curry, fish with aromatic spices. If you're not into cooking, we can skip it.
Prison Island. A boat to Changuu Island, known as Prison Island or Turtle Island. In the late 19th century it housed a prison and a quarantine station; today the stars are the giant Aldabra tortoises that happily come up to people. We feed them, stroke them and take unforgettable photos.
Stone Town. In the late afternoon or evening we visit the old part of Zanzibar City — a UNESCO-listed mosaic of Arab, Indian, European and African cultures. Narrow winding car-free alleys, carved doors, local flavours and fascinating history.
